AGL Booking Statistics from Google Golf SystemDa Nang, Vietnam ranks No. 1 over the past 8 months with 14.3%“Excellent course layout, maintenance, and accommodations”Lisbon tops the list for both American and European bookingsVietnam’s Da Nang has emerged as the most popular overseas golf travel destination among Korean golfers, while Portugal ranked as the favorite among golfers from the U.S. and Europe. According to global golf tech company AGL on June 9, Da Nang accounted for the highest share—14.33%—of overseas golf rounds booked by Korean golfers between September last year and April this year, a span of approximately eight months. Clark in the Philippines came in second with 11.82%, followed by Bangkok, Thailand, with 9.79%. Nha Trang (Vietnam) and Pattaya (Thailand) followed closely behind. Da Nang has retained its title as the No. 1 golf travel destination for Koreans for three consecutive years, based on AGL user data. These results are based on aggregated bookings made through the company’s golf reservation platform, TigerBooking, as well as its partner platforms, including Shinhan SOL, Jeju Air, Modetour, Singapore’s UOB Travel, and Hanatour Japan. Since last summer, TigerBooking has also been the system adopted by Google for golf reservations. Over the past eight months, golfers from 205 countries around the world have used TigerBooking to book rounds—thanks to the partnership with Google. So where do American and European golfers go for their golf trips? According to the data, the top three destinations for U.S. golfers are Lisbon, Portugal; California, USA; and Los Cabos, Mexico. California is home to world-famous courses like Pebble Beach and Riviera, while Lisbon boasts Oitavos Dunes, a beautiful links-style course. Los Cabos features several top-100-ranked courses, such as Diamante and Quivira. Rounding out the top five are Clark in the Philippines and Cancún, Mexico. For European golfers, the top two destinations are both in Portugal: Lisbon and the Algarve. The next three are Mallorca, Spain; Paris, France; and Saint-Briac, France. Portugal offers a wide selection of high-end golf resorts and great-value courses. In France, Le Golf National—host of last year’s Olympic golf tournament—and the Evian Resort are particularly popular. AGL CEO Jim Hwang stated, “Da Nang stands out from other Southeast Asian destinations in terms of course layout and maintenance. Combined with high-quality accommodations and nearby attractions like Hoi An, it’s especially appealing to Korean golfers. During the winter season, nearly 80% of golf visitors in Da Nang are Korean.” He added, “Japan is also one of the top three golf travel destinations for Koreans, but with 2,240 golf courses spread across 47 prefectures, no single region makes it into the top rankings. That said, the Kyushu region came in sixth.” Source: Seoul Economic Daily (https://www.sedaily.com) |
