AGL appoints Travel Industry Expert Kyung-gun Yuk to Boost Global Expansion 11/6/2024

AGL, a leading golf tech company under CEO Jim Hwang, is accelerating its global expansion in the golf travel sector. The company has recently restructured its business into three key divisions: Partnership, Travel, and Platform. This reorganization reflects AGL's commitment to broadening its international footprint in golf tourism.

AGL has appointed Yuk Kyung-gun, former CEO of MyRealTrip CIC, as the head of its Travel division. With over 30 years of experience in the travel industry, including his role as CEO of Hanatour—South Korea’s largest travel agency with over 1.5 million annual users and 47 million cumulative customers—Yuk brings invaluable expertise. Recently, he led MyRealTrip CIC, where he achieved outstanding results in B2B travel services. At AGL, Yuk will focus on developing golf travel packages that combine tee times with flights, hotels, and transportation, making these offerings accessible to both local travel agencies and global OTAs.

AGL plans to introduce exclusive packages for some of the world’s most renowned golf courses, including Royal Portrush, the site of The Open in 2025, and Royal County Down, a highly coveted course for golfers. "AGL’s TIGER GDS system gives us a competitive edge when negotiating with airlines and hotel providers, allowing us to create affordable, convenient package options for golfers," Yuk stated.

The Platform division is led by Kim Duk-yong, who previously worked on content development for Naver Real Estate. Kim currently oversees AGL's real-time tee-time booking service through Google Search, and manages partnerships with airlines such as Asiana and Jeju Air, as well as financial institutions including Shinhan Bank’s Sol and Hana Card. His focus will be on expanding partnerships across various industries and managing the distribution of golf-related content.

In line with its reorganization, AGL aims to increase its number of partnered golf courses from 2,000 and to diversify its golf travel offerings. By developing new products and expanding content distribution, AGL is positioning itself to lead the growth of the global golf industry, bringing more innovative and accessible travel options to golfers worldwide.
