AGL Analyzes Summer and Winter Golf Trends in Vietnam Independent Travelers Book Tee Times One Week Before Departure Vietnam is regarded as a popular golf resort destination, both in summer and winter. Global golf tech company AGL analyzed the trends of global golfers who traveled to Vietnam through AGL's partner channels during the summer (July to September) and winter (December to February) seasons. The most popular golf destination in Vietnam is Da Nang. Da Nang ranked as the top destination, accounting for 63.5% of total golf bookings in Vietnam during the summer season and 48.4% during the winter season. With many high-end golf courses such as Montgomerie Links and Legend Da Nang, along with plenty of other activities, the fact that travelers can enjoy free afternoon sightseeing after a morning round is a key factor in its popularity. Da Lat showed a higher proportion in the summer (5.9%) than in the winter (1.9%). Da Lat has golf courses such as Da Lat Palace, Da Lat at 1200, and Sam Tuyen Lam, and the main advantage of summer rounds is that it offers comfortable weather, with temperatures staying between 20°C to 30°C even in the summer. In other regions of Vietnam, most golfers visit during the winter, which is the peak golf season. Nha Trang showed the largest gap in visitor numbers between summer (11%) and winter (21.2%). 70% of AGL users booked FIT (Free Independent Traveler) packages. The remaining 30% used package deals that included golf + accommodation, or golf + accommodation + flights. Among FIT customers, many golfers booked accommodations and played at several nearby golf courses based on their schedules. Like other golf destinations in Asia, Vietnam also sees a difference in green fees between weekdays and weekends. Looking at the breakdown by day of the week, FIT (Free Independent Traveler) users prefer to book rounds on Thursday (14%) and Friday (13.4%). Similarly, package tour users also tend to book their rounds on Thursday (5.8%) and Friday (7.1%), which have the highest booking shares. There was a noticeable difference in the timing of reservations between FIT (Free Independent Traveler) products and package tour products. Among package tour users, about 80% completed their bookings at least four weeks before their scheduled departure, and 10% booked their golf travel packages three months in advance. On the other hand, FIT users tended to book closer to their departure dates. Approximately 16% of golfers decided on their golf travel packages one month in advance to finalize their schedules, while more than 25% of golfers booked their tee times just one week before departure. Meanwhile, AGL offers golf reservation services at about 80 golf courses across all regions of Vietnam, including Hanoi, Nha Trang, Dalat, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Phu Quoc.
