AGL establishes a base in Japan through the Tourism Authority 12/5/2023

Golf technology company AGL has been recognized by the Korea Tourism Organization for its potential growth as a global tourism company and has secured a foothold for expanding into the Japanese market.

On the 5th, AGL will move into the Tourism Business Support Center (KTSC) opened by the Korea Tourism Organization in Tokyo, Japan. The Tourism Business Support Center was established to support the growth of global innovative tourism companies and is the second of its kind overseas, following Singapore.

On this occasion, more than 120 Japanese officials, including Jim Hwang, CEO of AGL, as well as 15 selected Korean companies through the evaluation of the Korea Tourism Organization, and key figures from public agencies such as the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, local travel agencies, and media outlets such as Asahi Shimbun and Nihon Keizai Shimbun, and major financial industry players with investment interest in Korean companies, including SBJ Bank and Seven Bank, are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

AGL, as the developer of the TIGER GDS system, which applies the GDS system, traditionally used for hotel reservations and other travel industries, to golf tee time booking, is the only golf travel-related company to occupy space at the Tourism Business Support Center in Tokyo. AGL has already provided the Tiger GDS to over 1,000 golf courses in more than 30 countries across Asia, Europe, and the United States, including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and others.

Furthermore, AGL has demonstrated its potential for growth as a global company by distributing golf tee times worldwide through various sales channels, including major domestic travel agencies like HanaTour and ModuTour, as well as airlines like Asiana Airlines, booking platforms like MyRealTrip, Shinhan SOL, LF Mall, and Hey Travel, and even across different fields such as airlines and booking platforms. AGL has also signed contracts with global OTA (Online Travel Agency) companies like Expedia, Agoda, and Rakuten Travel.

AGL's occupancy in the Tourism Business Support Center is expected to greatly assist its entry into the Japanese market. Jim Hwang, CEO of AGL, expressed gratitude for the support from the Korea Tourism Organization and stated, "We aim to enhance the convenience of global golf course usage for Korean and Japanese golfers and connect Japanese golfers with the world's golf courses and tourism industry through Tiger GDS.
